I wrote an article for Hubby’s Pizza as follows:

In December 1976  Ed and Pat Gilbert established Hubby’s Pizza in Kennewick, WA—the same location where it stands today. After 30+ years of running the business, the Gilberts passed it off to two very pizza passionate people, Shane and Kelly O’Leary. 

Shane and Kelly worked at Hubby’s Pizza during their teenage years and would even fill in when needed several years after. Their love for the restaurant was genuine, and they both dreamed of owning it one day. That dream turned out to be prophetic when the Gilberts contacted them and expressed their desire for retirement.

If you’ve grown up in Tri-Cities, you may remember eating at Hubby’s as a child. The long wooden tables of family style seating, watching the cooks bake pizza behind the glass walls, always concluding the meal with a gumball from Hubby’s old-fashioned gumball machine. 

The pizza is as unique as the location and even more deliciously unassuming. The pies may appear like any regular pizza, but your first bite is quick to say otherwise. The thin crust is crafted in such a way the eater still enjoys a good bite, without the crispy cracker crust found at some other restaurants. Hubby’s is the kind of spot the locals love and the out-of-towners come back to try again and again. Don’t miss it on your next trip to Kennewick, WA.
